Dr. Bauer Announces Retirement After 35 Remarkable Years at Essex County OB/GYN

I am writing this letter to let you know that I will be retiring at the end of December 2025. Many of you are already aware of this decision. I have been in practice at Essex County OB/GYN for 35 years after finishing my training, and I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing you over the years. I am privileged to have cared for you, as well as many of your daughters, mothers, sisters, cousins, and friends. It has been wonderful hearing your stories about your lives/families/joys, as well as supporting you through the troublesome times.

I feel it is time for me to spend more time with my family, particularly my elderly parents. Since they live out of state (father in California and mother in New York, it will be rewarding to see more of them in the later years of their lives.

I also hope to do some traveling with Frank, my husband of 30 years. I appreciate his support of me and my profession for all of these years and hope we can continue to work on our “bucket list.”

Essex County OB/GYN will be happy to continue to provide your care. As you may know, this practice is comprised of a group of female physicians, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants, and midwives who work together to provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care. I encourage you to view our website (ecobgyn.org) to obtain more information about our providers. Essex County OB/GYN has hired several new physicians in the last few years, including Dr. Erika Wallace and Dr. Margaret Nemetz. Dr. Charlotte Lee, MD has completed her residency training in OB/GYN and will be joining our practice in December 2025.

I wish you all the best. Thank you for allowing me to provide your obstetrical and gynecologic care over the years. I have enjoyed it immensely.

Warm regards,

Laurel Bauer, MD
