Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to make an appointment at Essex County OB/GYN?
No referrals are necessary at Essex County OB/GYN! Your well-being is our priority, and we’ve designed our process to make it as seamless as possible. Your path to comprehensive and compassionate healthcare starts with a simple step – reaching out to us directly!
You are a 100% physician-owned practice. What does that mean for me?
Being a private, 100% physician-owned practice allows us the ability to shape the way care is delivered at our practice, ensuring every aspect aligns with your needs and comfort. From the length of visits to introducing pioneering procedures and services, we have the freedom to create a personalized experience that puts you and your well-being first.
What if I am not available during standard office hours?
For your convenience, we offer weekday, evening, and weekend appointments.
What if I have an urgent question or concern?
Your care team can be reached online through My Lahey Chart or by phone for time-sensitive questions. Patients who are in labor or who have urgent gynecologic needs can speak with a provider 24 hours a day.

If you have an urgent question or concern during our office hours, you will be transferred to speak with one of our highly skilled Call Nurses.

If you need to reach us after regular office hours, please call our main number (978-927-4800) and our Answering Service will assist you. If your call is urgent, they will have the provider on call contact you directly.

Please note: If you are having a medical emergency, please call 911.
Will I see the same physician or midwife every time I come in?
Our providers work together to ensure that our patients can be seen and cared for in the most effective possible way. This means we cover for each other so someone is available to you at all times. Because all of your medical records are electronic, each provider has access to current information for every patient in our practice. If your regular doctor or midwife is not available, you can make an appointment with another of our providers and trust that you will receive the same knowledgeable and expert care.
